Embracing these long summer days
No time to waste
Just time to wander
Long drives into the evening down winding back roads
With the radio playing my summer soundtrack in tune with the sound of the crickets and night bugs
The angle of the sun streaming through leaf and limb onto the road ahead
Flickering in my eyes Shafts of hazy golden rays crisscrossing the empty road ahead
I’m in my head…planning, dreaming, enjoying the cool breeze
The biggest waste of June is not the projects that go unfinished
But rather this present moment not embraced.
Ground level starlight wink on and off as I head back home to close out another day and another June.
